Looking at various catastrophes in the past months and years, one can hardly imagine what the earth shall look like in the future. Tsunamis, earthquakes, epidemic, massive floods, wild fires, hurricanes and typhoons that claimed thousands of lives and destroyed billions of pesos and dollars in properties are just among the phenomena that worry the people; truly worrisome as the wrath of nature were felt. The havoc of the earthquakes and the subsequent typhoons that just happened are still very fresh in our memories to recall. Wars, even among citizens are happening in many countries such as in the Middle East.

But being optimistic and confident, things will change, for the better.

Firstly, technological advances must deliver what they are designed for, that is, mitigate the effects of natural disasters such as equipment and tools that can predict typhoons, floods, tsunamis and hopefully earthquakes too. With these precise equipment, people shall be warned long before certain events occur.

Religious beliefs shall remain respected among culture and shall never be a reason to go to war. Parity in rights must always be observed as after all, we are all creations of God.
Economic development must mean that lives of citizens are improved. It shall not only mean economic growth, but more than that, translated into eradication of poverty, malnutrition, epidemic and infant mortality among others, our battle with the NPA and the Muslim insurgency in Mindanao are not caused by political nor ideological difference, rather, they are rooted on economic fundamentals noting that rebels are often times poor whose options are to go to the mountains to survive. Who does not want to live in peace and assured of food on the table of every family every single day.
We all hope that the family shall remain to be the core of every country, holding together the fiber that makes our societies strong; that notwithstanding different cultures, we are all united as nations founded on the belief that the earth belongs to everyone and not just for one or two nations. It is for the human kind.
Food and water shall not only be abundant, but are also safe. We all hope that research shall result to the propagation of better plant varieties or the production of food that are more natural or even free of chemicals that are harmful to humans. Famine shall be a thing of the past, as food becomes available in every table.
Lastly, the people shall realize that we are the key to many problems confronting our planet. Disposing our waste properly is just a small step, but taken altogether shall prevent floods and wild fires. Our use of resources shall never be again in total disregard of the future, but on the other hand conscious that many of them are depleting and therefore must always search for alternative solutions such as in the field of energy.
We all want to live not only in that era of peace, but also in harmony with nature. We long for that day when countries will become borderless, allowing people to freely travel as if their own citizens. When trust among them prevail.
